The conversation with @bethanymandel was great! Much fun to listen to, as you both took as well as you gave.
I think Clinton owes his presidency to Conan. By turning Bill into a (cough) lovable redneck horndog character with those Clutch Cargo lips, by playing up the Sex Rebel angle, Conan made it easy to both mock him and endear him to his audience. The worse the salacious behavior documented by Starr, the meatier the comedy ore to mine for laughs.
Clinton went full court press with “I have sinned, but I am not a criminal” to save his job. It worked. Ritual humiliation means nothing to someone with no sense of shame.
@bethanymandel was a great guest. She’s totally wrong about Titanic, but Steven Kruiser is wrong about Princess Bride and I still like him, too.

Part of my enjoyment of Process Bride is that my kids sat me down to watch it without telling me anything about it. So I was totally confused when the entire standard storyline of beautiful girl falls in love with boy she previously hated was dispatched in the first ten minutes of the movie. What are they going to do for the next 75 minutes? Well, that’s different!
Great first half. Especially your prognosis on Republican prospects in Congress, tax bill or not. Never heard of you before, but will follow in future. Please keep clear of Bethany Mandel. She’s frivolous, not funny.
