The only thing I wished they would have asked the General would be about our deterrence to an EMP attack. Are we prepared to hit back in a similar fashion? Do we have our own EMP weapons? etc….

Also, “Raven Rock” is great book on Federal government’s doomsday plans that was reviewed by the Bookmonger:

Why is this horrifying scenario still with us at least 15 years after serious and knowledgeable persons starting testifying before Congress?  The 2004 and 2008 EMP Commission reports are public and online.  Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House has been yelling about this continuously since about 2006.  He last gave testimony in May 2017 before a joint Senate oversight committee of the Homeland Security, Interior, and Energy and Natural Resources Departments.  All the big shots were there, and all heard this for the thousandth time….and then went to lunch.

I find the following pretty astounding:  The military has been working, but NOTHING has been done to protect society’s infrastructure as a whole, and most especially the electrical grid, for the past 15 years. Why is this?  The unequivocal evidence in the USA is that the resistance is from the 3200 electricity generating and transmission companies, and the states’ 50 utility commissions.  The grid is designed for efficiency and lowest costs, but not for secured generation and transmission.  The fixes are generally known and the likely costs versus your monthly bill are minimal.  But, there are no federal statutes as to who must do what; there is no national leadership that has stepped up to the plate, to force what must be done to be done.

For an 11-minute video about this issue, and a study that is now being performed by the industry’s Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), see this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D31RFJ00sd8

Both Iran and NK have the capability of doing an EMP attack and one or their proxy will should they ever become confident enough that there will be no retaliation. The failure of politicians to protect against this is reprehensible.
