Mr. Long, I found this shortest of moments so engrossing. Your recollection of bidding farewell to a wistful memory and ill-fated love illustrated the power of context and timing in real-life, that when executed by brilliant people on paper can resonate so deeply. Maybe it’s the cynical romantic in me, but it reminds me of what When Harry Met Sally might have been had it not ‘meant to be’. And there’s nothing a romantic loves to hate more than love that just wasn’t meant to be.
