This sounds like a repeat.  But I can’t put my finger on exactly how old it is.

Just be grateful it was pork and not squid. Trust me on this.

Yeah. Didn’t he jump out of the pan (California) into the fire (New York) last year or the year before?

Near the end he says “I’m 50” which if taken seriously – he was more ambiguous earlier in the clip – would mean it’s 6 years old.

(And now it appears he’s jumped from the fire, to the swamp: New Orleans.)

Programming note: We are indeed mixing in re-records of “classic” (well, that’s what we call them) Martini Shots with new ones because the classics only ran on L.A.’s public radio outlet KCRW and later, in their podcast feed for almost 20 years and were not heard anywhere else. So far the vast majority of this audience, they are all new content. Again, these are re-records of those episodes — although Rob often updates the original scripts to make them more relevant.

Going forward, we will ID the re-records as Martini Shot Classics. We weren’t trying to fool anyone, we just didn’t think anyone would care. Wrong!

Well, anyway SOME of us have been listening long enough, to recognize replays.  And it’s not that we – or that I, at least – “care” in the sense of it being a problem.  More like just noticing, and wondering.

Mr. Long writes himself into the most waggish script never put to screen. And we all laugh away the bemusement of the inevitable mid-life crisis. A Larry David-esque situation with Rob Long endearment.
