Mark Steyn

Ali met Frazier, Reagan met Gorbachev, the Coyote met the Road Runner. In that great tradition, we present this historic conversation between the two great wags of global warming skepticism, Mark Steyn and James Delingpole. They discuss Mark’s court case, freedom of speech, and, of course, the weather. It’s a cool conversation from a couple of very bright dudes.

Yes, we had a spot of trouble with Mark’s Skype connection about 30 minutes in (ah, New Hampshire broadband). P.S. To purchase the Steyn swag mentioned in this podcast to and contribute to Mark’s legal defense, visit SteynOnline.com.

Stick it to them, EJHill.

What, Mark doesn’t mention recently getting to meet the great Misthiocracy in person?!?!

    Truly, an egregious oversight.

    Mark & James,

Michael Mann IS A SCHM*CK, WAS A SCHM*CK, AND ALWAYS WILL BE A SCHM*CK.  (May COC judge this comment any way they like.)  He is responsible for the destruction of millions of jobs, trillions of dollars of GNP, and beggaring billions of lives worldwide.  He is the injured party??!!  What a travesty.

Further I would like to say to Mann personally “See you, don’t want to be you!”

If I can think of anything else to say pertinent to this situation I will keep you apprised.

    Regards,

    Jim

Great podcast!  Mr. Steyn – we missed you when you cancelled your FL tour.  Will buy your Christmas tunes for everyone this Christmas to fund your non-lawyer fund.

    Excellent, just excellent!

(And this showed up on my Stitcher feed, which has been giving me heartburn since the 2.0 transition.)

Nothing to add. But this is a pairing I love to hear more often. If y’all could squeeze Daniel Hannan in for a trio, even better!

Bravo…Steyn is right about the cost of a legal defense forcing people to cave in and settle.  Keep up the good fight, Mark!

I may have missed it, but has anyone actually commented on the estrangement between Steyn & NR? His column has been missing from the last two issues. I know there were comments on the HWX podcast a month or two back that he was not participating on the Corner anymore due to some disagreements, and he mentions on his site about a strain over legal strategy, but has there been any word beyond that?

I think they’re being generous on account of Canada not being a real country?

I’d also like to know why Mark Steyn hasn’t been on Ricochet Podcasts more often. No offense intended to Rob, Peter or James, but Mark was the main reason I joined Ricochet. For once upon a time he was a regular RP participant.  I’m sorry to bring this up again (I do so periodically and never get an answer) but I still haven’t got over the bait and switch :(

The edit mode isn’t posting for me and I’d like to correct my last sentence- …but I still haven’t gotten over the bait and switch (my OCD at work again).

The reason is simple: Most of the time he says no when we ask him to be on our shows. Don’t know why.

Wonderful podcast, and this time I finally went to SteynOnline to order some stuff and thereby contribute to the cause. I’m a sucker for all the same music Mark Steyn loves, so that’s where I invested.

Get this, he has an MP3 download of a duet with Elisabeth von Trapp – yes, she’s the granddaughter of Baron von Trapp & Sister Maria of Sound of Music fame! And get this, it’s a straight and delightful rendering of two songs arranged together, with New Hampshire calling and Vermont answering. Totally sweet and charming. Try it for $1.25 and then get all of his music. Now I’m onto Heart and Soul, and next up: the Marshmallow World Christmas CD.

Just thinking outside the box here. Have you thought of kidnapping him and forcing him to podcast for food?

That would require us to go to New Hampshire in the winter. A non-starter.

Honestly,  I think that Mark Steyn should have his own variety TV show.  Kind of like The Dean Martin Show, but maybe with a little more politics.

Just listened and Mark (James, too) was great as usual. His situation not only highlights freedom of speech but our lawyer and legal system problem.  One of my solutions has always been a Constitutional amendment stating that no lawyers can be elected to Congress because of conflict of interest. Something the Founders left out and, even though some were lawyers, I am sure they had the same reputation (in general) then as now.
