I haven’t listened yet, but happy Elections guys. Though my question is why did Labor relent? They had Boris trapped in Parliamentary Hell thanks to the Fixed Term Parliament act. Is this a bad sign that they can actually do better than the current polls show?

    Great question.

What were the Liberal Democrats thinking? What was Labour thinking?

Did the Conservatives have any alternative than to demand another election? It does not appear so, unless they wanted to do a “hard Brexit.”

Right now (1750 EDT on 30 Oct.) Martin Baxter’s Electoral Calculus shows the Tories gaining a 76 seat majority and that’s with Farage’s Brexit Party pulling in 11% of the vote. If Boris and Nigel can come to an agreement that keeps the BP from fielding candidates in constituencies where the Tory candidate is strong leave then they should be in great shape.

Jeremy Corbyn knows that after calling for a GE on an almost daily basis and not delivering it his base is getting fed up with him.

I agree about the horrible wokeness of Watchmen, but the opening scenes depict a historical event (airplane and all):

I wasn’t aware Brussels “made deals”. I thought that Brussels sole function was to take control. ( honestly, I’m not trying to be cute with that observation.)

… which happened a century ago!

One of the tricks progressives use is to pretend that nothing has changed since the days of Jim Crow.

This is partly the fault of conservatives, who are too afraid of being called names to broadcast the statistics on race and crime, which can immediately destroy the entire “black lives matter” narrative.

I agree with you! But James referred to the opening sequence, including the airplane making strafing and bombing runs, as a ridiculous fiction- and it was not a fiction, it depicted a historical event, airplane and all. I’m not defending the show and I think the depiction of Tulsa was purely a propaganda effort to paint America as mired in racism. But t;he historical record is the historical record.
