Congratulations, British cousins. I am only surprised how long it took. After all, I had been assured, to music, no less, that “Britons never, never, never will be slaves.”

I haven’t been so happy for England since they lost to G Washington and A Jackson. Congratulations chaps. Oh and I just love Toby’s wife. Could she have nagged talked to him about not putting up the sign. Of course but I think it was much more fun to go and take the sign down each night. What a hoot.

    A narrow escape:

Factional divisions took approximately two weeks to heal. Liddle grants credit to Boris Johnson. Apparently, Britain did not need the EU as much as the EU thought. By the by, today’s news is reporting on the latest EU effort to field something resembling an army. The German military, until recently led by now-EU president Ursula von der Leyen, is so underequipped that its tank commanders must engage in battlefield exercises with their own automobiles… because the German military has no functional tanks. Why would any self-respecting nation want to be part of such a boondoggle? How does it happen that someone who showed such manifest ineptitude in her last job received a promotion. Perhaps we should continue to worry about the decadent and degenerating European Union. Perhaps Britain got out just in time.

I have mixed feelings about this.

The fact that Germany can’t find any operational tanks is ridiculous.

The fact that Germany can’t find any operational tanks is …. reassuring.

The possible answers to the question “If the EU really is bound and determined to field an army, where will the get the money?” are deeply disturbing.

So, so happy for all Britain on this day. Your obvious exhilaration leaves me sitting here with a big smile on my face. Rule Britannia!
