Hey girls — prayers for Elisha — interesting discussion.
I had four homebirths and never had to purchase drop clothes at Home Depot… but I did rent a Rubbermaid horse watering trough
for water birth, and I had a green fish tank net.
I also had two children in a birth center in Oregon before my 4 homebirths.
My first homebirth was a breech presentation up until a week before she was born, but she turned into the right position before labor began.
All my babies were around 8 lbs.
Have you heard Jim Gaffigan on homebirth?
I also had a home birth and didn’t buy anything. It was quiet and beautiful. I don’t push it because I think it is a personal decision but my daughter in law decided on her own and has had two homebirths. I don’t think she bought anything either but neither of us had a water birth. I had a “Laboyer'” tub for the baby right after birth but my daughter in law did not. My homebirth baby is now 38 yrs old!
Enjoyed the podcast ladies.

My homebirth baby broke the fish scale so was over 10 pounds. It was wonderful.
I was glad to hear reference to the wallaby, as there had been no reference to him for several episodes.
I attended home births before I became a doula to help couples birthing in hospitals. The best way to describe the contrast is that I went from the almost sacramental to the always sacreligeous.
No gear needed for the couple over and above waterproof protection for the bed. Or for the Amish, newspaper. Zero cleanup in waterbirths apart from pool and hose to fill and drain.
Of course we trucked in all supplies needed for emergencies, set it all up, and then packed it away and trucked it all out again.
As a doula I saw baby after baby, mother after mother, and father after father traumatized by emergencies that we dealt with in the home in a such a way that noone even noticed.
Forgot to mention that all five of my grandchildren were born at home. The last three were paid out-of-pocket because the military wouldn’t pay for midwives who charged less than half of the cost of a hospital birth.
I don’t get it. What is wrong with hospital birth?
My friend’s wife has now had 2 babies born in a bath tub.
@doulalady we just mentioned you on our latest episode – you definitely seem like someone we’d want around for a home birth!!
