Do You Know Your Rights?

Are you being detained? You’re free to skip this podcast but we don’t recommend it. Most of y’all know ladybrain Emily Zanotti is a lawyer—and her husband is too! He joins the podcast for a much needed overview of the rights Americans have (and how to exercise them).

Lyndsey, Yeah on MINI Cooper! I’ve owned two, and they are really fun to drive. I never got a ticket in either of them. Several us who drove them speculated that MINI Coopers don’t look like a car that is driven recklessly the way that a Corvette or a Camaro or a Mustang or a Porsche does, so it doesn’t attract police attention they way other sports cars do. But I did wear out the front tires quickly (both cars were front wheel drive 2 door hardtops, so I kept the front tires busy :-) ).

I assume the police know that it is difficult to get license plates and driver’s licenses, and are not surprised by seeing cars without tags. Here in Texas the office that issues license plates just reopened, and our next door neighbor finally got plates for the car she bought in February. The earliest appointment my sister-in-law could get for a driver’s license is November! But it is a good idea to carry your purchase paperwork with you just in case.

The story about the drunk midget made me spray my beer!

Great podcast, and informative too . . .

Such an interesting discussion! Good job to whoever’s idea this was! I really think that Ladybrains ought to have James & Emily come back periodically (say, quarterly? or maybe twice/year?) to continue the discussion on this topic. There’s just so much to learn from this kind of practical information!

(Side note: was it just me or what’s up with the up & down volume? It was driving me nuts. Everything that was said was so interesting, but I’ll be honest, I was missing words here n there throughout the episode. Obviously I’m a big fan of LBs, but in the interest of quality, I had to bring it up.)

😬 Sorry about that. You should have heard it before I spent two hours trying to normalize the audio levels. Next time James and Emily will each have their own microphone.

I figured it had to do with them not being used to doing a podcast together. It also sounded like James might need to practice his microphone discipline (keeping the same position and spacing with the microphone). It sounded like he sometimes turned his head away from or toward the the microphone in the middle of saying something.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I wondered if maybe that’s what it was. Appreciate all you do :-)
