Stranger Things

The Conservatarians — also known as Ricochet Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel and Heatstreet contributor Stephen Miller — talk about Trump’s week from hell, the Democrats’ boring but effective convention, and the best new show on Netflix, “Stranger Things.” Intro and outro music is “Soon” by My Bloody Valentine. Jon’s music pick is “Clean Coloured Wire” by Engineers, and Stephen’s is “The Promise” by Sturgill Simpson. Regarding Trump’s actions and statements, and how a PR person might have to grapple with him.  The list alone that you went over had me laughing, hard, while waiting at an amazingly interminable Taco Bell drive through line (20 minutes for 4 tacos?).

Imagine waking as Trump PR Person #23, and every day you get a printout of the latest hijinks, and think, every day:  “He said WHAT?”

Every day.  Groundhog day.  I’d treat it like bloodsport and dare people to challenge Trump’s assertions during press conferences.  Watch heads explode.  Pop some popcorn, and enjoy the show.

    Jon and Stephen,

First time I’ve listened to your podcast, and I liked it a lot. I was in college in the ’80s, so I’ll definitely watch Stranger Things. Jon, if you like Engineers, check out their labelmates, North Atlantic Oscillation – even more intricate Beach Boy harmonies with shoegazing. And finally, Sanguine Hum is an terrific British band – XTC mashed with jazz, with a touch of Devo.
