Comedy’s pretty much dead if the only people you can make fun of is white straight males, white Christians, and white conservatives.
But we’re through the looking glass of the early to late 90s comedy scene when I was heavily involved in standup and gay comics were claiming because they made dirty sex jokes they were “un-pc” when they were pc’s wet dream.
But then again, doing an even lesser regarded form of comedy where we teach performers to use it as anti-authority, it comes as a surprise to many that I think given their control of the levers of culture, they’re “the man”
One of the lessons I teach is play what you hate. You’d be surprised at the number of people who think I’m woke and didn’t realize I was making fun of them.
Jon, in my experience, you are the only person in American media who knows that the correct pronunciation of Helsinki is to put the accent on the first syllable.
