Pirates of the GOP

Ricochet Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel welcomes his new co-host Stephen Miller of National Review. They discuss their dueling articles on leaving the GOP, the rise of Donald Trump, and who will be banned from their conservatarian Pirate Ship.

Follow them both on Twitter at @ExJon and @RedSteeze, and check out Stephen’s personal website, The Wilderness.

Intro and outro music is “Serve the People” by Handsome Furs. Stephen’s music pick this week is indie pop punk band The Thermals and Jon’s is shoegaze supergroup Minor Victories.

And I thought this podcast had faded away like Tracked and Targeted.

    Welcome back!

Great podcast guys. Heads up – Stephen was only in my right ear.

Nice podcast guys, save for the music. Blech. Consider adding the time when you start to talk up in the description for cranks like me so I don’t have to suffer. Muchas danke!

Looking forward to the next one.

Good stuff, guys. But the sound, come on. Firstly, don’t put the different voices in stereo. I was listening on my headphones and every now and then had to take one ear bud out to listen for stuff in the background where I was working. I would then have to pause the podcast because I was only getting half the conversation. Also, Steve was blaring in my right ear, while I would have to turn the sound up to hear Jon. Quite annoying. Lastly, 4 minutes of bumper lead in is too much. I liked the music, but didn’t turn on the podcast to listen to new music. Stick it at the end and let people listen then if they want to.

For me the player cuts off after about 12 minutes in. Both with the embedded player and if I use the download button and the browser mp3 player. I have had this problem numerous times on different machines.

I second BThompson. It sounds like early Beatles stereo, everything left or right. Nothing in the middle. If a bit of separation is sought, go 75%/25% to the left and right, or to the right and left.

As a one-eared American having voices split into different channels is really annoying. Also the 3+ minutes of bumper music was annoying.
