Michael Walsh on ‘The Great Reset’

The king welcomes Michael Walsh, a ridiculously accomplished author, screenwriter, and novelist. His new book, Against the Great Reset: Eighteen Theses Contra the New World Order, features essays from a murderer’s row of conservative intellectuals. His other work includes six novels, seven works of nonfiction, and a hit Disney movie. The former classical music critic of Time magazine, he is now a regular contributor of political and cultural commentary.

After the interview, Jon talks about the curious attack on Paul Pelosi, the closing days of the midterm campaigns, and Chief Twit Elon Musk. Subscribe to the King of Stuff Spotify playlist featuring picks from the show. Continuing the Brazilian theme, Jon recommends his favorite song of all time, “Over and Out” by Pile of Love.

Walsh is one of my favorite writers on current events.  I reference or quote his books often. This book is already on my Kindle.

We met him on two Hillsdale cruises.  He’s a great speaker and fun to talk with.

I met him on one NRC cruise. Sadly, they haven’t invited him back. He doesn’t pass the groupthink test, I guess. That is how I discovered him. Ditto for Andrew Klavan.

His book THE FIERY ANGEL makes the case that the arts are a better and more hopeful way to understand and change hearts and minds than rational or political discourse.  A stealth approach instead of a head on battle.  It shares a theme with REMODERN AMERICA by Richard Bledsoe who I first heard of on Ricochet some years back.

Great interview.  Loved what Mr. Walsh said except for Tulsi as vice president.  She’s great in many ways, but I want a conservative one heart beat away from the presidency.

Her voting pattern is ridiculous. She needs a cabinet job, first.

When you had the lady from Brazil on, I thought about @annikahernrothrothstein. I wonder what she’s be up to lately. Her tales about Venezuela a few years ago were riveting.

Not always, but I usually try to book guests who aren’t on every other podcast, and can share a different perspective other people miss. And I tend to avoid those who have the Acela Corridor groupthink.

Not just any last night, but Election Day last night!

Eric Harley cited the King of Stuff favorably last night, but not quite as memorably as when Red Eye Radio forwarded Jon’s brilliant message

    Release the Strategic Meat Reserves!

when Big Meatpacking was blamed for high prices at the butcher’s.
