Kanye Takes Chance on Trump

The Conservatarians discuss — what else — Kanye West, Chance the Rapper and their tweets about Trump and the GOP. Especially the backlash from floored liberals.

The intro/outro music and Jon’s song of the week is “Every 1’s a Winner” by Ty Segall. Stephen’s song of the week is “In My Room” by Graham Coxon. To listen to all the music featured on The Conservatarians, subscribe to our Spotify playlist!

I haven’t listened in quite a while, gents. Y’all had gone too negative for me. But, I saw the topic and decided to listen, and then stuck it out to the end. I figured you young hepcats are very much more into the popular culture than I have ever been or ever wanted to be. You would have an interesting take on this subject, and you did have some interesting points.

Now, I have to preface what I’ll say next by saying I’m on the older side of life. I’m so old that when I hear Mozart, I think, “These durned kids and their wild musical ideas these days…” I was a curmudgeon by the time I was eight years old, and that was probably before at least one of you was even born, maybe both. But you guys sound like a couple of old fuddy-duddies in your nursing home rocking chairs talking about how bad things have gotten since you were young. I was ready to get a shovel to dig your graves, because anyone that old can’t be far from the underside of the kirkyard turf. And if I’m thinking that, what would younger people think while listening to you? Y’all need more joie de vivre. If talking politics isn’t doing it, it’s time to find a new business.

Here’s a bit of fresh new music for you, one of those wild-eyed kids I discovered a few years back. He knows how to do a happy tune:

By by the time I was half way through the podcast I felt as though I had aged 20 years.

They were making me feel young, since there is no way I could be as old as these codgers.

Perhaps more interesting is Chance the Rapper’s comment as his father was an aide to Senator Obama and Mayor Harold Washington. (Bet you didn’t know that).

This is a great coup by President Trump. Kanye has a vast following, black and white and inbetween, who pay very little attention to politics, but do think Republicans are taboo. Even if Kanye recants, he has still put a germ of an idea in their minds that Republicans are not completely evil. This is a big step.
