Get Out did win an Oscar for the screenplay. And was nominated Best Picture and Director. But it did have an acting nomination, Best Actor for Daniel Kaluuya . And I agree with Jon about Us. It made no sense at all, but I had a good time.

“A viral image of then-Vice President Joe Biden giving a woman a seemingly creepy embrace in 2015 was taken wildly out of context, the woman says — as the potential presidential hopeful is facing accusations from another woman that he got too handsy during a 2014 campaign event.
“Stephanie Carter, the wife of Obama-era Defense Secretary Ash Carter, says Uncle Joe did nothing untoward when he planted his hands on her shoulders and whispered something in her ear during her husband’s swearing-in on Feb. 17, 2015.
“‘The Joe Biden in my picture is a close friend helping someone get through a big day, for which I will always be grateful. So, as the sole owner of my story, it is high time that I reclaim it — from strangers, Twitter, the pundits and the late-night hosts,’ Carter wrote in a Medium post.
“Carter said she had slipped on some ice at Arlington National Cemetery earlier in the day and was feeling particularly self-conscious about the fall — and concerned about her husband’s high-pressure new gig — when Biden comforted her.
“The image became part of what Biden critics call a pattern of creepy behavior.
“‘After the swearing in, as Ash was giving remarks, [Biden] leaned in to tell me, “Thank you for letting him do this” and kept his hands on my shoulders as a means of offering his support. But a still shot taken from a video — misleadingly extracted from what was a longer moment between close friends — sent out in a snarky tweet — came to be the lasting image of that day,’ she wrote.”
With all due respect, I think that this Photoshopped picture is a cheap shot, and we are better than this.
I agree, a Photoshopped picture is a cheap shot, but no I am not better than that. Its funny as all – Joe Biden is finally getting the Memes and ridicule he’s deserved for years.

It’s fairly amazing that Biden is still kicking around as any kind of politician, but I’d rather we hold him up as a shining example of what our current electoral politics produces with alarming frequency, than as anything else more sinister. An aging goofball shouldn’t have been vice-president, but there ya go.
They’re all in it for themselves, so the incentives around protecting each other, in congress, etc, are large and outsized. Which is how that elected “leadership” maintains semblances of unity, and why a pinched-faced dolt like Pat Leahy stays in office for seventy gazillion years and some folks still think that’s a great idea.
How can you argue with anything Chris said in #5?
First of all, Jordan Peele’s decision to only cast black leads in his movies is, yes, incredibly racist. (How the hell is it not racist?)
And Jon Gabriel’s contention that Hollywood is still, in 2019, “deeply racist” is so retro as to border on parody.
Hollywood used to be racist. Of course it did. But no longer. Not institutionally.
Does Jon even own a TV? Does he watch it? Not just stare at it, mind you; does he register the color of the people who are on it? Can Jon not perceive color? Is there maybe something wrong with his reception? What’s going on here?
Okay, let’s assume Jon and his TV are both fine. Does Jon not see the number of black leads on TV right now? Black supporting characters? Mixed-race couples?
Would Jon care to venture a guess as to whether the percentage of mixed-race couples in TV and film right now is A) more, B) less, or C) roughly the same as the general population?
The answer is “A) more.”
And Jon — if he has a pair of working eyes —must surely know that.
And yet even though America is still 70 percent Caucasian … and even with all the changes taking place in film and TV at the moment … Jon can still say with a straight face that Hollywood is still “deeply racist.”
Then again, Jon seems to have a genuine blind spot for how deeply “wokeness” has penetrated Western culture. I still remember him dismissing the idea that his own kids might have guzzled the PC Kool Aid because, Jon said, he often hears them making fun of the prevalence of the word “racist.” Therefore, according to Jon, they’ve skirted the “woke” pitfall!
If only, Jon. If only.
Here’s a fun experiment, Jon: Ask your kids sometime what they think is the biggest problem facing the country right now.
Ask them to take 10 seconds, then give you a nice short answer.
I guarantee it will be “Racism.”
