   Jon’s point about other countries not tolerating the Malarkey of Big Tech companies from California.

   You have Uganda taking action (possible to support incumbents):

   Uganda has blocked access to social media platforms in the East African country just two days before Jan.14’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

   In a Jan. 12. letter, the Uganda Communications Commission ordered internet service providers in the country,  to “immediately suspend any access and use” of all messaging apps and social media platforms until further notice.

    

   The E.U. is looking to create laws to control Big Tech.

   The European Union’s executive arm proposed two bills Tuesday—one focused on illegal content, the other on anticompetitive behavior—that would empower regulators in some cases to levy fines of up to 6% or 10% of annual world-wide revenue, or break up big tech companies to stop certain competitive abuses.

   The bills don’t mention any specific company but, as drafted, one or both would likely apply to several large U.S. tech companies including Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Amazon.com Inc. Apple Inc. and Facebook.

    

   Poland has a new law that allows fines of $2.2M against Big Tech for censoring.

   Under its provisions, social media services will not be allowed to remove content or block accounts if the content on them does not break Polish law,” Poland In reports.

   “In the event of removal or blockage, a complaint can be sent to the platform, which will have 24 hours to consider it. Within 48 hours of the decision, the user will be able to file a petition to the court for the return of access. The court will consider complaints within seven days of receipt and the entire process is to be electronic.”
