On the candidates: I think Jon is absolutely right: No white guy will stand a chance. I think it will come down to Kirsten Gillibrand and Kamala Harris. It’ll be pretty close, depending on who can out-Left whom.
On the so-called music: Call me an old fuddy-duddy, but I couldn’t stand it. How can anyone like that stuff??!
I’m from Massachusetts. One Democrat who might actually make a decent president is our former governor Deval Patrick.
F.Y.I. Stephen Miller: James Buchanan was the first gay President of the United States (4 March 1857 – 4 March 1861), was the only POTUS to remain a lifelong bachelor, was rumoured to have had a close relationship to William Rufus King and the two were nicknamed “Miss Nancy” and “Aunt Fancy” by contemporaries.
Clarification for Stephen: It’s not “eff you” money. It’s “eff me” money, meaning a person who can throw away a billion, get nothing out of it, and still be fine.

I see why Patrick might make a very decent candidate. He loses the racial/ethnic/gender checkbox derby to Harris (she’s the three tools identity politics player) but he has the far better and broader resume, a solid basis on which to support Obamacare against Sanderscare hysteria, and, perhaps, David Axelrod.
But why do you think he might make a decent president? Really just your central casting liberal governor. Could have been created by Aaron Sorkin.
By “decent” I meant that compared to any of the other top contenders for the Democratic nomination he wouldn’t be a total disaster. I would still rather the next president be a Republican.
Who I would prefer combined with who I see as potential candidates.
Jon & Stephen,
Was it really necessary to put all of their photos up at once? Now I’m nauseous and have a severe migraine. Isn’t there some way that they could all lose? Perhaps they could all attend a debate in Northern California and be consumed by wildfire.
There now I feel much better.
Regards,
Jim
Jon,
You mentioned the NYT being consistent regarding how they stand by their hires – with the exception being Quinn Norton.
Another exception was Razib Khan. The NYT hired him and then dumped him for assorted double plus ungood tweeting and thinking…

Oh come on, you should have called it Handicapping Handicaps – chicken!! Bawk, bawk bawk!!
How will the media arm of the Democrat Party handle a large Democrat primary field? They had the “kid’s table” and main stage for the Republicans. The first group didn’t get much attention and mostly stayed low in the polls. Ace and others offered suggestions to balance the debates. What I remember was randomly picking eight and running two prime time debates, not building on the ones already with high recognition.
Would they want their team to have equal chances or would they help pick a winner? Pretty sure it would be the later, especially as you mentioned Pope Mario the Pius’ sons being on both sides of the fight.
