Frank J. Fleming

Frank J. Fleming writes for The Babylon Bee and has written several novels, including Sidequest, Hellbender, and Superego. He has just released a sequel to that last one called Superego: Fathom that you need to buy immediately. Jon and Frank discuss sci-fi, the creative process, and parody in an era beyond parody.

The intro/outro song is “Hang on to Your Ego” by Frank Black. To listen to all the music featured on The Conservatarians, subscribe to our Spotify playlist!

Getting a little tired of the I’m-better-than-those-mouth-breathing-Fox-News-watchers attitude that seems to pop up in most Conservatarian podcasts. Here’s a challenge, try not mention how enlightened you are because you avoid TV news for a month’s worth of podcasts.

I enjoyed Superego last week, will take a crack at the sequel this weekend most likely. Up next month is the brand new Dresden book!

I think they were talking about *all* news, not just Fox.

But I’m with them – I don’t watch any news, at all. Read about it, sure, but I no longer dive deep into it. Not sure why I should get worked up over something that I don’t control, can’t effect, and someone else has decided I should be upset about.

Well my perspective is similar, I guess. I don’t watch TV news because it’s pretty much all about stuff that nobody really KNOWS yet. There’s no reason for me to hang around the TV as the updates dribble in, and they MIGHT eventually have the correct information. Which in many cases, actually takes days or even weeks, not just minutes or perhaps hours. And they might NEVER tell the WHOLE story, such as that according to the autopsy report, George Floyd was NOT asphyxiated by the police.
