Rob Long likes psychedelics. Why don’t you have him on to talk about them. I’m sure it would be enlightening…Thank you for saying KIEV by the way!
Something about KEEV just feels wrong.
A chart for clarification purposes:
Excellent interview with Jay Richards.
Jon, you’ve misstated the position of the Church of England on gay marriage. It is still impermissible to undertake same-sex marriage in the CofE, and the Church doesn’t recognize it. The recent decision, which came from a vote of the vote of the General Synod to allow blessing in the Church for same-sex couples who participated in a civil marriage or are members of a civil partnership welcomes the couples back into the church and allows the partners to be blessed as individuals.
Those may be weasel-words, and I’m not here to carry water for the Archbishop of Canterbury (Justin Welby), who’s a prize twit, but them’s the facts.
In addition, your recapitulation of the relationships between the Episcopal Church, the Church of England, and the worldwide Anglican Communion was rather off-base. You might want to try to get Calvin Robinson on the podcast to sort things out. He’s an engaging speaker who knows his stuff.
I very much appreciated your discussion with Jay Roberts. He’s well-informed and articulate, and I enjoyed the exchange!
Thanks for correcting me! I have Calvin on my list of guests to reach out to; we follow each other on Twitter and he seems like a very sharp guy.
