Daniel Knauf: From Carnivàle to Astronauts

Daniel Knauf began in health insurance and wrote his way onto HBO with his groundbreaking series, Carnivàle. Since then he has written and produced The Blacklist and Spartacus: Blood and Sand among other projects. His latest creation is The Astronauts for Nickelodeon, working with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment. Jon and Daniel discuss the writing process, the entertainment business, and his hopes for the new series.

I saw Blind Justice back in the day.  Interesting take, and I actually remember parts of it so congrats on that much.  I have to say that I at first thought you were involved with Blind Fury, and I had to adjust my expectations a bit.

I should just point out that Ricochet’s own @jameslileks was a big fan of Carnivale.  I heard him discuss it in the past on a podcast.

Really enjoyed hearing about the writing process. I feel less stuck. Until I get stuck again. Thanks for bringing something other than politics to us from time to time!
