Corey DeAngelis on School Choice

The King of Stuff welcomes Corey A. DeAngelis, Ph.D., an absolute bulldog fighting for educational freedom. Corey is the national director of research at the American Federation for Children, the executive director at Educational Freedom Institute, an adjunct scholar at Cato Institute, and a senior fellow at Reason Foundation. He was named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for his work on education policy and received the Buckley Award from America’s Future in 2020.

Jon and Corey chat about the massive gains for school choice during the Covid era, the self-destructive policies of teachers’ unions, and the political shift to allow funding to follow students. Then Jon talks about the Fauci and FBI fireworks on Capitol Hill Tuesday.

This topic is so tired and old.  School choice is not the answer, not to mention the fact that no politician anywhere will ever do anything about it.  The $7K Jon’s governor is offering to families in Arizona is a joke.  That doesn’t pay a quarter of the tuition at the school I sent my kids to, which I can’t afford.  It’s nothing but virtue signaling.

I remember how “principled conservative” Charlie Sykes dismissed people like Cory, telling us this is an overblown story. another example showing why the Bulwark is garbage .

None of it matters until you get govt completely out of education.

I am usually very supportive of school choice and charter schools.   But none of it matters one bit until the breakdown of the family unit is addressed.  Schools can’t fix unfunctional families and the broken children they yield.
