served on the White House staff as director of political affairs under President Ronald Reagan and as deputy assistant to the president for policy planning for President George H. W. Bush. In 2008, Pinkerton was a senior advisor to Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign. He is a fellow at the New America Foundation in Washington, D.C. and a former columnist for Newsday.
