The Jerry Springer analogy is I think closest to the reality of what is going on with Trump. He is trying to build interest in the Trump name as a free standing media entity and is trying to engineer a spectacular defeat for himself in November that he can use to

    1. Claim that elections and the American democratic process are corrupt.

    2. Shepherd anyone who believes him into buying into whatever business he will cook up from the ashes of it all.

This is so sad. Megan McCardle likened Trump to the Mule in the Asimov series, totally unstoppable and sui generis. We realize how terrible both candidates are and can’t do anything about it. It’s ruining a great party and movement.

Costa says the campaign is run very isolated and is based on Trump’s interpretation of what the reality is, reminds me of Trump defining how much he is worth and it varies day to day depending on how much he believes his name is worth.
