A good portion of Trump’s supporters openly rejected Romney in 2012. Even some members of the conservative media ran him down. So the current breach has deeper roots than just this election cycle. Also, it’s strange to suggest that a mature electorate would automatically choose the immature candidate. If that’s the case, then you have to hand it to them for sticking it out as long as they have. Trump does have remarkable staying power, but it’s in spite of himself. It can be chalked up to voters extreme dislike of the alternative. If at this late stage he manages to throw that built-in advantage out the window and won’t event try to appeal beyond his base, I hardly think that’s the fault of immature voters.

Good podcast. I absolute hate Trump, but Paul’s rant starting at 9:49 and continuing to 12:41 is the best explanation for Trump that I have heard anyone give.

Thanks, Keith. I’ll go back and listen to that. I stopped listening when I heard the excuses about Trump’s language being just immature. I think that this is a generational issue. Older Republicans (Boomers) seem to excuse that behavior much more readily than GenX and younger. What I heard on the Access Hollywood tape was a confession of a sexual predator. Did I know that before? I don’t remember. I think I thought he was a pervert and a jerk, but I don’t think I knew that he forced himself on women over whom he had power. Go read @MBGlenn’s twitterstorm if you want to know how I feel.

Dennis Green’s comment “they are who we thought they were” was about the Bears, who had just beaten his Cardinals on Monday night football. The Cardinals had disparaged the favored Bears before the game, gotten off to a big lead, and then lost due to a furious comeback by the Bears. The comment was essentially whining to avoid giving the Bears credit for being the better team. Small man.

    Thanks for the memory refresher.
