During the recent NRA Convention in Indianapolis, President Trump gave formal notice that the US will withdraw its signature from the UN Arms Trade Treaty, which attempts to limit the sale of firearms and ammunition abroad. This week, Dr. Ted Bromund explains why this is a big win for our sovereignty as well as our Second Amendment rights.

Here’s a choice passage:
”… it is likely that the (belated and inadequate) U.S. efforts to arm the Syrian rebels against Bashir al-Assad violated the treaty. But if that is true, it means that the treaty creates a presumption against supporting anyone who rebels against a tyranny. In other words, it kills the Reagan Doctrine, and, de facto, it puts both the U.S. and the treaty on the side of the tyrants — on the side of the bleeding they impose.”
Bromund points out that the treaty is completely useless, as far as affecting the behavior of international bad actors like Russia, China, and Iran. Its real purpose — the advocates are not shy to confess (!) — is to give progressive activists in the democracies the ability to shackle those countries’ foreign policy through the courts.
