The Trump Party Podcast

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Podcast for November 22, 2016, It’s the Trump Party edition of the program, brought to you by SimpliSafe as well as Donors Trust. This week on the podcast we discuss the conflict of interest landmines awaiting Team Trump described recently by Republican Commentator David Frum. How will it be possible for President Trump to avoid getting in trouble when legislation, executive orders and rolling out of bed will have consequences for his personal financial empire? For the Democrats (and Republicans) who will be scheming to get rid of him as soon as possible won’t this be a target rich environment?

Then we’ll talk about Vice-President Elect Mike Pence’s trip to the theater with his daughter to see the big, Tony-award winning hit Hamilton and the booing and dissing that he endured just to acquire a little culture with his kid (other than that Mr. Pence, how did you enjoy the play?). Was that an unbelievable ego trip by the Hamilton cast and crew members or what?!?

Finally, we’ll discuss an article by bustle.com writer Julie Alvin entitled: 21 Women Whose Dads Voted For Donald Trump Tell Their Fathers How It Made Them Feel. How does this make Mike feel??? That’s Mike with three college attending daughters who are not completely with the Trump program.

Your characterization of Ronald Reagan is outrageous. The most bald faced, shameless lie I’ve heard or read on Ricochet. I lived during Reagan’s administration, and I remember the flaming arrows he endured from the press, from Tip O’Neil himself, and even from his own party. Would either of you have endured 30% approval that Reagan did to bring inflation under control?  I remember the whole world demonstrating against Reagan over his prosecuting the Cold War. Would you two let yourselves be the most hated man on the planet? If Reagan was the person you say he was, he wouldn’t have, and the Soviet empire would still enslave half the world, or more likely the vast majority of it by now.

Rick Harlan: no one endorses Trump and keeps their soul.

I was agreeing with you until that.

As I’ve said before, no one endorses Trump and keeps their soul.

I am inclined to think that I also disagree with Todd on this…though I guess I just went along.

You’re right. Removed. I shouldn’t have slimed bystanders.

This had to be as bad as Mona Charen bemoaning the evils of Trump.  Besides the Reagan smear (seriously, this is coming off like the worst of the Obamabots claiming he will save the universe and transform all politics) to the extremely uncomfortable discussion on how to talk to your daughters (It came off like one of you was ranting about the lack of parental guidance from the other, and the line about politicians being an exact representative of 50%+1 of the population without any beliefs of their own was just ridiculous.

Why not ask your daughters, “If blacks are being targeted by police. Why don’t they move to Britain or Canada? That’s usually what oppressed people do.”

Happy to hear it. See if you can find Hillary’s while you’re at it. She could use one.

Well, I still enjoy a good bourbon and cigar.  That’s verification enough for me!

First folk music and now jazz flute? I know when I’m being trolled, @michaelstopa! And to add insult to injury, this is the second consecutive episode in which I was not name-checked during your “shower thoughts.”  Harumpf!

I think this thread could be civil.

I enjoy the podcast and the challenging ideas presented, disagreeing with many of them.

If I agree with everything, I try to stop listening and get out of my bubble.
