Tooth and Claw

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for September 28, 2018 it’s the Tooth and Claw edition of the podcast, number 193! (Phew, are we getting old or what???)

Today we talk about…well, yeah. Is there anything else going on in politics today? We talk about the Blasey Ford – Kavanaugh rumble in the jungle. It was indeed a day of high drama. And here are we, your humble observers of all things political, here are we hanging out twisting in the wind. By which I mean, the vote is tomorrow. How’s it going to go? By the time you hear this the deed will have been done.

Well, prediction is not our bailiwick. No indeed, we are about insight, perspective – occasionally rage. We don’t have a clue which way it will go. But Mike thinks, at least that it will come down to Jeff Flake one way or another.

We have our shower thoughts of course! Todd talks about his interview with author Justin Frank who seems to have written a worthy (though lef wing inspired) book in the President Trump on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President.

And our hidden gem this week (you’re not going to believe this) is our first from the world of opera (although Gilbert and Sullivan are opera after all…so our second) it is the Flower Duet from Lakme by Leo Delibes. Enjoy!

As did I. I did not see the hearing, so I appreciated hearing their take on the two testimonies.

Regarding the discussion of Trump on the Couch, I did a quick look and found that the same guy did write Obama on the Couch, for what it is worth.

Thanks David! Somehow the Harvard Lunch Club crack investigation unit missed that!

Nice to hear a bit of opera with such unoperatic vibrato. That’s lovely.

Did Jay Nordlinger tell you what to pick for the hidden gem?
