I just had a crazy thought , could it be that in the final episode of the Mary Tyler Moore show when Ted suggested they sing ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary ‘ he was , as usual , getting it wrong and what he meant to say was ‘We’ll meet again’ . This could be the longest joke fuse in history! Haha
Thank you to Mollie Hemingway for acknowledging how much she regrets her vote for Evan McMullin. Other conservative figures are pretending they did not vote for him, or even that he ever existed.
I did no such thing! I didn’t acknowledge regret for voting for Evan McMullin because I didn’t vote for him! I was just taking the opportunity to talk about how ineffectual the push for him was, and that conservative Trump voters knew what they were doing and have already been vindicated somewhat.
Sorry, when you said on Twitter, “It takes a special man to get one’s voters to regret their vote more than HRC/Trump voters thought they would. Evan McMullin is that man”, I thought you were speaking for yourself, but you were in fact referring to your husband.
So as far as I know, your husband is the only prominent conservative to acknowledge regret at having voted for McMullin.
Evan McMullin is an intelligent conservative. Trump is neither. I do not understand how you can say who is McMullin to be running for president. Who the heck is Donald Trump to be running for president? I voted for McMullin because I could not vote for Trump or Hillary. I am thankful Trump has surrounded himself, for the most part, with good people but he continues to act like a buffoon and it is clear he has no understanding of this country, its obligations or its history. Our only hope is that he shuts up and lets Pence and the cabinet run the country.
Evan McMullin: “I salute the courage of @SallyQYates. May other Americans in the government have the same resolve when required.”
McMullin voters: Where do we go to get our reputations back?!
Given that the Republican Party is sooo despised, what is y’all vision of the country (you know, the shared space even us idiots still inhabit) after the Great & Wonderful Trump era is over (could happen)?
It’s great to see you back at Ricochet, Mrs. Hemingway. Your insights are always valued, especially when they’re delivered with your sharp wit. You taught me the more family-friendly “goat rodeo” to replace the CoC non-compliant term I’d been using before. For that alone, I owe you a debt of gratitude.
A note to the podcast proprietors: Yours is the only podcast that is pushing 100 MB (82 MB in this case) compared to about 1/3 that size for comparable-length podcasts (e.g., Law Talk at 28 MB). Much as I enjoy listening to your dulcet tones, they need not be reproduced with such high fidelity. It’s just spoken word, guys, not opera. You don’t need to encode it at 192 bps. Please, make your files smaller.
I had thought I might one day break into Vesti la Giubba so we invested in lots of bandwidth. But perhaps it is better to use it only when we need it.
That is the problem when an amateur does the sound mixing (i.e. me). We do shoot for smaller files but it got particularly out of control this time. Thanks for the feedback.
Listening to and reading Mollie Hemingway is always a somewhat depressing experience.
You imagine that if conservative positions could be articulated with that perfect mix of policy smarts, common sense, scold-free morality, fairness and a winning personality we would magically win the debate.
Yet liberals persist despite Mrs. Hemingway.
The demise of the Ace of Spades podcast left a little hole in my conservative heart on Fridays until the Hemingway/Harsanyi Federalist Radio Hour began on Fridays. Uniquely unforced chemistry and good humor in agreement or disagreement.
Man I miss the Ace of Spades podcast. Ekhdal, McCoy, Ace, and Gabe were phenomenal.
R.I.P.
Hey, thanks for responding me. Some contributors on this site (no names, please) treat the little people like, well, little people.
You guys have an excellent podcast. Continue your good work.
Felt sorry for you sitting and waiting for the endless download! :-)
Not sure which male voice is which but as someone who did a LOT of radio, there needs to be more attention paid to who is/is not getting too close or too far from a mic—longish sections almost approach the inaudible.
PS–Molly H is terrific
Hi Doc, Yes our sound engineer was off in the Bahamas and so we had to screw it up ourselves this time. Will do better next time. Sorry about that!
