There is a lot of value packed in this twenty-one minutes. Thank you for bringing it to us.

Great theme for a podcast series.

We should hear more stories from people who have lived under communist / socialist systems, hearing about what life is like under such systems, the extraordinary lengths to which the people went to leave, and the contrast with living in a free society.

I heard a number of such stories when I was a teen and young adult in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, and those stories strongly influenced my views. As those who escaped from behind the Iron Curtain age, we need to record those stories and bring them to new generations that seem unaware of what life in a communist / socialist system really is like.

New stories are being generated by people leaving Venezuela, so finding those stories can also be useful.

I would have found helpful a general introduction of the guest at the beginning of the podcast. Who is he and why should I be interested in what he has to say?

One of my long-term pet peeves about many podcasts is the amount of background noise. I am therefore particularly not a fan of recording podcasts in public spaces.

Enjoyed the interview and would love to have him interviewed again not only about his grandfather but also what he thinks of socialism being put forward in the US as an alternative to the free market.

Oh and if possible can we have interviews/podcasts somewhere where there is not as much background noise. I know it sometimes has to be done in less than ideal circumstances but it is distracting for us mere mortals.

Hadn’t seen @fullsizetabby‘s comments but agree on both.

Excellent choice for your interview subject.

Pedro is looking at all these comments–sooner or later he’ll wade in with replies himself–but on having recorded this first podcast in a public, and therefore noisy, place, I can tell you that Pedro is already duly penitent. Why? Because the Blue Yeti chewed him out for it good and proper. Live and learn–and this is one lesson he’s learned. Two lessons, come to think of it. Never record a podcast in a restaurant–and never annoy the Blue Yeti.

These are the immigrants the Democrats are trying to keep out — as I know from personal experience.

Good job, Pedro! Welcome to the line-up. I’ll be looking forward to hearing more.

I won’t belabor the point about background noise (wait, I think I just did!); I’m sure@blueyeti said all that needed saying. Of course, where was he when you were out making your first recording???
