This week, a special live GLoP recorded last December, live from the National Review cruise, sans Podhoretz. Jonah and Rob riff on a variety of topics (we won’t spoil them here) and take questions from a tipsy (and we don’t mean in the seasick sense) audience. Ahoy!

Already listened to the Remnant version of this podcast, but the GLOP version deserves a like for the cover art alone.
That is a seriously scary cover photo.
It was December 6th!
Only if you hear the words, “Go ahead, Jonah, draw me like one of your little French girls” in Rob’s voice.
This was the funniest episode they have ever done. I am really glad that Jonah found the recording. I laughed outloud throughout.
Fixed. Thanks!
That horrible picture is now emblazoned in my mind. Damn you Blue Yeti!
Not a Photoshop (but then, neither is the image above):
Nice to have this once-lost podcast, recovered.
“That which is ours is ours again. It will never be taken from us again.” – Cloud William, “Star Trek: The Omega Glory”
When I saw the title of this particular episode, I thought it was referencing GK Chesterton: “We men and women are all in the same boat, upon a stormy sea. We owe to each other a terrible and tragic loyalty.” I thought it would be a great discussion about our inability to be civil about our differences in the US today, focusing on the need to see the things that unite us, etc.
That would have been good, too. But this was really funny and, as if so often the case when listening to GLoP Culture, I laughed out loud more than once. I was on the elliptical at our neighborhood gym. No one asked, but I would have been happy to recommend the podcast if anyone had been courageous enough to ask me what I was listening to.
Best photoshop ever.
And that’s saying something.
It’s déjà vécu all over again!
How creepy for Rob to have to sit in Stalin’s greasy chair!
It could be worse, though. In Lushan, China’s “summer capital” mountain resort, tours of Mao’s house include a close look at the master bathroom. It is noteworthy because it features two different toilets. There is a Chinese squatter which was preferred by Mrs Mao, and a Western style throne which was preferred by the Chairman. Thank heavens there was no pressure to sit on Chairman Mao’s clapper!
The Soviets were barbarians. They did not use Antimacassars.
My favorite part of this episode was when Jonah described his airport experience as a great idea for a sitcom, then proceeded to describe the plot of the NBC series Wings so perfectly that I assumed he was setting up Rob for a bit.
Did they say something about Kevin Williamson being a newlywed??
I listened to half of this going to work today and laughed all the way. After a horrible day at work, I looked forward to listening to the rest and it didn’t disappoint. It put me in a much better mood before I got home. I vote y’all do this type of podcast at least once a quarter.
I heard that too. That would explain why Kevin recently made reference in a column to “we” when referencing caring for his dog.
Rob or Kate Winslet? Let me see, which is prettier……
John needs to stop monologueing. Rob and Jonah barely got a word in edgewise this episode.
Like….how is it like possible for such educated, like, erudite fellows to like interject ‘like’ …into otherwise, like, entertaining and, like, informative like narratives? I’m like stunned.
It was so nice to hear Jonah and Rob speak without being interrupted every two seconds. I would be happy with GLo instead of GLoP.
I also hear a lot of “you knows” on many of these podcasts.
