I don’t think the point was that it was immoral just to bring war into peoples’ homes, I think the point was that it was immoral to have an 11-year TV show about a 3-year war.
Hogan’s Heroes did 6 years of WW II in which the US was involved for 4 years. And they had their D-Day episode early in year 3!
