Live (well, live on MP3). from their primary domiciles, it’s the mighty GLoP podcast! This week, a trip back to days of show biz past as the GLoP-heads revisit (warning: you may want to sit down before you read the next few sentences) the long lost Jerry Lewis Show, which ran for 5 episodes in 1984. Also, who was Joe Franklin and why was he on TV? We answer that question for you. Also, will the movie theater business (and the live show business at large) survive COVID-19? We discuss. And when will this all be over? And what about the kids (specifically, John and Jonah’s kids)? Finally, the guys discuss what they are watching with all of their free time.

The Incredibles is, indeed, a joy; but that was somebody else who praised it: a bit excessively, I think!
I said it was a top 3 Pixar movie. But it most certainly is not the most important movie of the 20th century and it’s silly to claim that for the 21st century (even if you qualify it with “yet made”) now as we are only 1/5th of the way into it.
And not being able to recall something on the fly on a live podcast is not a measure of anything. That John can do it is great. But that’s his super power. And it’s freaky, quite frankly. I love it, but it is freaky.
My friend’s grandparents’ house is in the shot when Napoleon Dynamite attempts (and fails) the sidewalk bike jump. Just pointing out the GLoPpers aren’t the only ones with movie location claims to fame.
Agreed. Though John and I share a similar view of POTUS. GLoP should have been named SPOILER ALERT!! for John’s enthusiastic retellings.
I don’t know if JPod has servants, but if you listen to the Commentary podcast, you know he has lackeys.
Also, given what the Democratic Party has become, constantly undermining the Republican President makes you a strange “supporter” of Israel — as the Israelis understand even if JPod doesn’t.
“Intellectuals” and “experts” frequently only have a very limited comprehension, if any at all, of things outside their narrow specialty.
No shots of Jonah’s bird flying?
Hi – Lubavitcher here. A little late to this, but anyway – loved hearing Rob talk about the Chabad Telethon. One important correction though. The host of the Chabad telethon Rob mentioned, who (apparently) said “let’s make 6 million a good number for the Jews,” is Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, director of Chabad of California, who’s a great guy, quite a character, and also most definitely NOT the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Oh, and another thing – the Chabad telethon has had many many “celebrity gentiles” on over the years – Carroll O’Connor and Matt LeBlanc come to mind – although John Voight is unique in probably being the only celebrity gentile to ever give a Jew a crash course on Chasidism on national television.
