Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
The stars aligned this week and we discovered that all of three of the men of GLoP (that’s Jonah Goldberg, Rob Long, and John Podhoretz) were all in the same city that never sleeps at the same time. So, we convened a special in person podcast at the sumptuous offices of Commentary Magazine. A few of today’s topics: the Conservative media industrial complex and what to do about it, Westword, Bob Dylan and the Nobel Prize, and GLoP fixes Twitter. See you on the high seas after the election, everyone.
We’re walking here, @EJHill.

Off with their heads!
I have this problem with Dennis Prager’s podcasts, too. Too loud for Dennis but too quiet for his guests — not all the time but sometimes.
I have written to Dennis and Allen asking them to please use a compressor. E.J., please confirm what I am saying if you would, please.
Yeti, you can send this podcast through a compressor before you send it out and it will fix this problem. I’m amazed you professionals (you and the Prager guys) don’t automatically use one every time to even things out.
Take a look at Rush’s hour 3 today — this is very typical:
And this GLOP one — very uneven:
I would love an analysis of the time dedicated to trashing Trump vs Hillary on all Ricochet podcasts during the last several months. Probably not much different than the Big 3 networks.
Also, there was a cheap shot on Dennis Prager during the GLOP podcast by Mr Podhoretz. Mr. Prager has been consistent and clear that Trump was his last choice as the Republican nominee. But once he won the nomination, he was going to vote for him in the general election. He doesn’t think you are evil if you are not voting for Trump (as insinuated). He just thinks your lack of support is de facto support for Hillary. I hold the same view.
Agreed. Made cleaning my apartment this afternoon so much more enjoyable. Thanks!
Hey, @jonahgoldberg, aren’t you enjoying Ricochet’s civility now that you’re commenting on the site? :)
As for @bd‘s comments, I think there’s a distinction to be drawn here.
There’s a lot going inside the conservative apparatus, so I think a defense or clarity of Jonah’s point is in order.
Take a few branches of the conservative movement:
There are probably some categories I’m missing, and people cross over from one to the other (Jonah arguably shifts from 1 & 3 into 4 with “Liberal Fascism” and Fox News appearances), but you get the general idea. If you want to find where the serious money is, it’s #4. If you succeed there you’ve got millions. Also, all of your books have a big photo of you on the cover. I imagine this is what Jonah meant by “Conservative, Inc.”
If you succeed in #1, 2 and 3, your income may be coming from donors and you have to listen to complaints about the microphones on your podcast.
