The men of GLoP have some thoughts about the events at the Capitol, both the attack and the inauguration. They punditize Melania’s costume change on Air Force One, Lady Gaga’s billing, and ponder what might have happened had President Trump kept his Twitter account and attended Joe Biden’s swearing in. But it’s not all politics — not by a Rob Long shot. They discuss the new version of The Stand and the Marvel TV show Wanda Vision. Also, what to Danny Thomas, George Brett, and one of our sponsors have in common? Sorry, no spoilers.

Based on the title, coffee table, hemorroids, and kitty litter. Is there a time stamp so we can skip the Biden love?
To be fair to the election of 1916, the Irish were more than willing to die for their beliefs and their beliefs were far more classically liberal than the modern commie loving IRA. Also, the bigoted treatment of Ireland was one of the worst things the British Empire has ever done. BLM, Antifa and whoever Q-anon with the viking idiot have not shown anywhere near that kind of bravery and they don’t have one-tenth of the legitimate grievance that the Irish had against their British lords.
I was heavily criticized for doing that on a previous show, so no.
Trump has been gone for 5 minutes and after listening to this episode the effect on Rob has not been what I expected. It may be that Trump had a more positive effect on him than anyone could have imagined.
Since I was born and raised in Kansas City and that I currently live in Lawrence, Kansas (just 40 miles west on I-70 from KC where the University of Kansas is located…..and yes our mascot ( I went to KU) is named after a semi terrorist organization even if they were on the “correct” side) I love the photo!!!!! :-)
They lost me on the Wanda show when John said Marvel and they lost me for Lupin when they said ‘french”.
Actually it is not Biden love, but Trump distain at the beginning plus a bit of Melania love.
Scatologic content and ED concerns, as John should know, is all about Norman Mailer. Self lubricating catheters are way more Gore Vidal.
I’d love to hear the guys discuss the new Netflix show, Pretend It’s a City, starring Fran Lebowitz.
I’ll add it to the list!
Sorry to hear JP equate the Easter Rising of 1916 with the Slob Mob of 2021. In his vilification of paramilitary groups ,The Irish Republican Brotherhood of 1916 would seem to be similar to the Irgun and Stern Gang of pre independence Israel. The Easter Rising was a standup fight that went on for days and was only resolved by the employment of point blank artillery and troops diverted from the Western Front. Downtown Dublin was in ruins. Subsequent trials and executions galvanized ongoing resistance. It’s a long story to the present. I would suggest the works of Tim Pat Coogan to expand the narrative. If you need a movie I would suggest “Michael Collins” with Liam Neeson. Ireland remains divided–but thank God at peace.
There was a perfect moment that encapsulates this:
Jonah makes joke about French chauffeur: Rob laughs
JPod tries to top the joke: fart
Since George Brett is good friends with Rush Limbaugh from when Rush worked for the Kansas City Royals, I think I know who the most conservative person is in this picture.
Brett apparently endorsed Trump live on-air with a joke in 2016.
Except for true conservatives, politics is largely about self-awareness and being extremely worried about what one’s peers will think about you.
College-educated women became one of the strongest demographics to break against Trump in recent years, but I think you would be hard-pressed to find any or many college-educated women outside of the local university or social work-type professions around here that voted against Trump.
Trump has always raised hackles. But I’m intrigued Where are these 5th column
Sorry for my ineptness. But I still ask The Cloaked Gaijin to explain his statement about college-educated women(?!).
“Highly Scatological” sounds like a meme to a Robert Palmer song…
3:34 and I’ve had enough. I’ll try again next week.
I made it 6 minutes and 23 seconds. They loath their subscribers, don’t they? I believe that was my last.
Remember, clicks are currency on the internet. Even if you hate-listen, you’ve still given them a click.

Oh. It’s supposed to be a glass coffee table!
I thought for sure Brett was going to be mentioned because of his hemorroids. It was pretty big news in the eighties but I was a Royals fan. I hadn’t heard the story Uncle Joe brought up.
I didn’t think Melania’s Florida dress was anything amazing. She looked absolutely phenomenal, as usual, in the black outfit she wore prior to getting on the plane. Something about the black outfit did seem to signal she had stepped out of First Lady role and was briefly showing us herself. She looked business-like and as if she felt she had successfully completed the work she had agreed to do.
Melania Trump is easily the most beautiful, and most beautifully dressed, First Lady we’ve ever had. Such a dreary shrew is following her. I’m sick to death of Dr. Biden already.
Maybe she can prescribe something to help you get over that sickness.
Oh, wait…
Regarding my senator Josh Hawley, Stanford University (BA), Yale University (JD), 42nd Attorney General of Missouri. He took down the previous Republican governor by investigating new felony charges, he was praised by Karl Rove’s organization for uncovering an untested rape kit scandal, etc.
Nine hours ago, Senator Hawley tweeted, “It’s time to stand up against the muzzling of America” with an article in The New York Post.
Jonah immediately responded by saying, “This insufferable jackwad is making himself into a victim because he wants you to think it’s unfair that society take note he’s an insufferable jackwad. I’d be embarrassed for him, except he knows exactly what he’s doing.”
Ben Domenech responded by saying, “The cool new thing about Liberal Fascism is how it silences the people I hate.”
It’s clear who the insufferable jackwad is.
Once you fast forward past the political stuff, the podcast gets really funny!
Enjoyed the snippet about Paul Krugman’s “God Save the King” gaffe. One thing to add: the reigning monarch since 1952 is Queen Elizabeth II, so the UK’s national anthem has been “God Save the Queen” for almost 70 years. Anyone who has spent any time “over there” should know that.
Well, I can’t say I wasn’t warned by the podcast’s title, but holy cow. That sort of discussion is not my colostomy bag.
