The remake of Ninotchka would be set in the near future after the Antifa Revolution. The humorless college administrator could go to Paris to sell artwork from the Frick Museum.
Best movie endings? I liked
“As good as it gets” – I liked it because it shows that his craziness was because he was living within himself – at the end of a movie his interest (maybe developing love) for Helen Hunt cures him of some of his OCD.
“Rocky” – Great movie from start to finish… But the ending was great…
“Raiders of the Lost Ark” – although this movie has been completely ruined for me by “Big Bang Theory”, the movie’s ending was great.
Movie ending that disappointed me?
“Omega Man” – this film was a late night movie regular in the mid to late 70s… I haven’t seen it since, but I still remember it ending with Charlton Heston dying in the fountain (after being betrayed by his girl friend?) … The movie “I am Legend” is a remake of this film – but with a better ending. I was a kid when I last saw this so some of the plot points had gone over my head at the time. (like I didnt know the disease was bio-warfare and not just a pandemic – maybe I’ve forgoten)
If happy people didn’t have interesting and surprising interactions, nobody would listen to a podcast of three friends joking with each other and ruminating together.
The most popular sitcoms are shows about nothing, like Seinfeld and Corner Gas. In His Girl Friday, the audience likes both Russell’s character and Grant’s, yet there’s a whole movie essentially about the banter between them and being exhausted by the very thing that attracts.
They can talk about whatever they like. Conservatives don’t need trigger warnings or safe spaces! No snowflakes on Ricochet. The only thing I don’t want to hear is Pod taking our Lord’s name in vain. Not necessary and makes me think less of him.

Have you seen All Of Me with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin?
I once won kind of a “contest” with that movie, from a challenge to name a comedy/funny movie with a very strong tear-jerker ending. All Of Me has it.
I love how not talking politics immediately turns to pornography.
I would swear on a stack of pancakes that is what I originally typed. I know the difference.
The “best joke John’s heard in years” turned out pretty good, better than his “greatest joke ever” attempt a couple podcasts ago.
Also, his segway seemed fairly competent. Which is quite impressive for John.
Actually, the Planet Of The Apes MOVIE – not the original short story which doesn’t have this problem – is rather dumb sci-fi… -ish… fare. Anyone with half a brain would/should know they were back on Earth the moment the apes started speaking perfect Engrish.

Those porno titles were parodies. One real one, that came out in 1981 after “Nine to Five”; “Eight to Four, For Those Who Like to Get In Early”.
Can’t you just try liking things Kedavis.
In the 80s I worked for a while in a video store that had a porn section. We’d have frequent conversations about the title knock-offs.
One that sticks in my mind was “Goo Morning Vietnam”.
This is the erudite conversation that justifies a Ricochet membership.
