Cool

In a recent G-File, Jonah (the “G” in GLoP) wrote that “conservatives need to get over their insecurities about not being cool in the eyes of liberals.” Do we need our own Daily Show or Colbert Report? Do we already have them? Also, does the Left really have a monopoly on storytelling today  Does it matter? Listen to what our learned hosts have to say on the topic and then weigh in below.

From what film was that dialogue at the intro? Seymour Hoffman was great.

=== Update, I am told it’s him as character Lester Bangs from Almost Famous.

    That is correct.

I’m one of those who has said that we need a conservative answer to John Stewart or more right-leaning comedy.  Of course I don’t mean copying The Daily Show, but I still think it would be great to see some more people make fun of liberals.  I kind of disagree with Rob Long et al, but that’s why I’m a distinguished author/producer/publisher and they’re just schlocks writing on a website (wait, reverse that).  Even just selfishly, I want to laugh more about political issues. There is a lot of comic material left on the table because people are so reluctant to mock the left.  Did anyone really make fun of Harry Reid’s recent rants?  Or of Obama pretty much always blaming Republicans?  And on and on.  Jonah Goldberg and Greg Gutfield are funny, but I want something that’s just pure comedy.  SNL is not going to do the job.  I don’t care so much about being cool, I just want to be able to laugh, and to maybe have something to show people that Democrats are really ridiculous, too.
