Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Yes, we know we’re a little behind schedule this month, but better late than never (that’s what we tell ourselves, at least). This week, some commentary on the Commentary Roast, we get drafted into the streaming wars, some musing on the Woke Industrial Complex currently raging the in media business, and some musings on Dave Chapelle.

Can’t say you’re the only one, since, not being a mind reader, I have no idea how many people share your skepticism. But I hope the number is small. I, for one, wish Jonah the best and predict only the best for him. He’s a brilliant, principled guy and one of the finest, most insightful writers in the country.
On a side note regarding the last sentence of your post, James Lileks has spoken about the insufferabikity of an entire generation of people (those born after 1985, let’s say) who speak and often write using unnecessary uptones. These people throw a rising, interrogatory inflection at the end of sentences that aren’t even questions. Sometimes this is done for snark’s sake, and other times it’s done because … well, it’s a diffident generation.
But upspeak drives me crazy. Drives Lileks crazy too.
I havent heard anything from the new venture… Even when I disagree with Jonah I still enjoy hearing him because he’s a funny.
Okay, but their new venture/site is apparently going to rely on paying subscribers. On Ricochet you get to hear from a large number of people, including pundits and other members, for a quite modest sum. How many people do you think are going to be willing to hand over a likely significantly larger amount, to hear mostly/only from Jonah?
I dont know. Seems to have worked out for Ben Shapiro. (I know others are now on the same platform, but didnt it start with Just Ben?)
Of course there are successful single-host sites/podcasts. But Jonah is no Ben Shapiro.
