The Ghost of Christmas GLoP

Yep, it’s the last GLoP of 2016, so time to do a bit of reflection (just a bit) on the year that was. We talk the incoming administration — who will and may jot make it through the nomination process, who has the best names in the cabinet, and of course, some picks for the best movies, TV, and books of the year. Got some choices we missed? Let us know in the comments below. See you next year, everyone!

It was either that or continue our month long tribute to Mary Tyler Moore.

Anybody have a link to “The Holly and the Ivy”? I found zippo on Daily Motion.

    Thanks.

Re. Die Hard as a Hanukkah movie.

It’s about a New Yorker killing a bunch of Germans. What’s not for a Jew to like?

    (Sorry.)

I rated Love and Friendship 3 stars on NF. It seems like a movie that would reward repeated viewing.

Rex Tillerson inspired the (great) Chris Cooper’s character, Tex Richman in a recent muppets movie.

I couldn’t figure out what word he was referring to with “ert”.

    Dear Ricochet members,

Brother Rob has done so much for us over the years and this Christmas we should do something for him. If each us just sent 1¢ we could go down to the local Walgreens and get Rob a roll of hypoallergenic medical tape so that he could anchor his microphone somewhere in the general vicinity of his mouth. It would make all our listeners happy and save what hair remains on the head of the Blue Yeti.

In the spirit of the season,

    EJH

All the Dick Van Dyke Show episodes are on Netflix.

My oldest daughter is a huge fan of the Munsters thanks to Netflix.

I suggest changing your ringing endorsement of ‘Kevin Can Wait’ to Rob Long didn’t create the show, he just perfected it.

I really like GLoP and this was another great episode, entertaining, funny, etc. But (and you knew there was one)… Rob comes over very soft, Jonah is really loud, and John is somewhere in the middle. The entire time I listen, I am constantly turning up the volume so I can hear Rob and then turning it down so I don’t get blasted when Jonah makes a comment. Is there any way to get a more consistent sound?

Great podcast despite the sound editing challenges. At one point I kept yelling Wayne Knight [Newman from Seinfeld] when you guys were trying to think of a fat comedian who lost his Mojo when he lost weight.

We tried to watch The Holly and the Ivy tonight and just had to quit about halfway through. It’s hard to imagine that any ending could redeem this dreary movie.
