Don’t Force Me, Bro

First GLoP of 2018 and we’ve got President Winfrey, some dopey book that everyone is talking about, and yes the official GLoP Star Wars  hot take extravaganza. We are your father.

Note: there is a previous version of this episode that has bad words in it. This is the clean version

I was gona say. Rob dropping the 2000lb F-bomb in the middle of the podcast was both funny and shocking (given my expectations). I expect that now he will have to go on the main podcast and perform a soviet style apology, admitting guilt to crimes he did not even do and ones he can not even comprehend.

Oksy, but yesterdays’s podcast was hysterical.

Where do we get the bad word version?  ;)  I tried to download this thing yesterday and it didn’t work.  A little cursing now and again is good for a person.

Hoping this becomes like the ESPN Supercast, 20 different versions

the “non-Podhoretz” version will intrigue me…a version where Sonny Bunch replaces Jonah, etc.

Glad I got to catch the NSFW version. Rob’s Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde transformation was amazing.

Rob is wrong to say that people who don’t like a movie are wrong. Taste is taste. If you liked TLJ, great. I hated it. I don’t like chocolate either.

Rob is working hard, I am sure but….it’s apparent that Never Trump-ers are becoming bitter.  Good outcomes from things you despise tend to do that.  All the pearl-clutching over every tweet and quote….yet still here we are in a better place economically, on much foreign policy, judges, a glimmer of a better UN?  I thought conservatives were results oriented, but the never Trump-ers have shown that is not the case for them.

I almost drove off the road I was laughing so hard. I never doubted Rob had this in him, but it was fun to get a glimpse into his world. This will take its place alongside  “we’ll do it LIVE” and “What is a Gonk?” in my pantheon of funniest audio rants.

Loved Jonah’s catch copy for Bombfell: “You won’t look like your bloated body has just been fished out of the harbour”. Of all the insults hurled Steve Bannon’s way, this one has to be both the meanest and the funniest.

I was absolutely dying, I was laughing so hard. I work for the Department of State with a interesting mix of former military and highly educated, erudite foreign service officers (I am one of the military types). So, needless to say, we also have to carry on the highly sophisticated conversations and then suddenly switch to dropping f-bombs like Dresden in ’45. When I told my wife about it and told her they had a clean version, she insisted on listening to the NSFW version. I love that woman.

Explains the increasing bitterness,  not the particular trigger. And I see it as spot on for Rob and Lileks. @jameslileks. I had the same disconnect when Obama ordered Bin Laden’s death and at sea body burial. Great move from a man I personally disliked. Hard to accept someone you despise could do so well.

I listened to the NSFW version while walking the dog.  I had two thoughts about Rob’s behavior:

    #2: So I guess Rob is a real Hollywood big-shot after all….

Rob did a good job in the podcast of describing the potential perils from the #MeToo movement for the difficult, screaming, demanding boss. I thought actually illustrating it was a little excessive.

It’s not really the f-bombs that threw me off.  I care zero about swearing.  It’s that Rob was directing it at an employee.  An employee that was making a mistake, but not a catastrophic-everyone’s-going-to-die mistake.

Rob has routinely excoriated Hollywood elites on these podcasts.  I’ve listened to just about every one of these podcasts, maybe I missed one or two, from the start of Ricochet.  So much for “civil” conversation on the right.

That was incredibly out of line.

Chris, One — Rob and I are old friends, we talk trash to each other ALL the time. Two, this was not directed at me, it was frustration with Skype, and I’ll tell you a secret: he knew he was on and there was at least some amount of shtick being performed here too. In other words, he was doing a bit — it’s not an accident that he was taking about Anna Wintour and The Devil Wears Prada  just prior to this event.

I appreciate everyone’s concern, but really, Rob and I are fine. We’ve communicated several times since the show both in private and in public and had some laughs about it.
