Mollie asks, “What are we doing [in Ukraine]?   What’s our plan?   What’s our strategy?   What’s our exit strategy?   How will we know when we have succeeded?”

All very useful information.   Useful, that is, to Vladimir Putin’s war planning!

This always the dilemma of a democracy in wartime.   Anything the government tells the American people, the enemy hears as well.

So, when Biden asserts that our commitment to Ukraine is open-ended, he is really telling Putin, “Throw in the towel; you can’t outwait us.”   Let’s hope Putin believes him.

My guess, as to the real strategy that the Biden administration can’t reveal publicly, is that they believe if Russian control of Crimea is threatened, then Putin will finally be willing to come to the bargaining table.

Remember, Putin’s position right now is that the Ukrainian people don’t exist, they’re just a bunch of deluded Russians; and Ukraine has no right to exist, regardless of the many times its sovereignty was recognized by Russian governments over the last 30 years.
