It’s funny how Katy Faust looks exactly like John O’Sullivan. That being said…

At about 46:50 – “When adults frame their desires as rights, kids lose their rights. …Conform to the rights of kids rather than expecting kids to lose their rights to conform to the life that an adult wants to live.”

At about 56:30 – “You’re never going to be able to legislate away a child’s longing to be known and loved by their mom and dad. Right, so you can either have a law that reflects that natural desire and that natural right, or you can just have laws that affirm adult desire and make marriage a vehicle for adult fulfillment.”

I forget when I first heard about Katy Faust and her organization Them Before Us, but hearing her speak was a game changer and totally reframed my views on and how I conceptually approach the issues discussed in this podcast, and in so many other interviews I’ve heard her give.

Definitely worth the hour to listen to this podcast.
