    Ann Coulter’s arguments seem a little demagogic.

    “How many American lives are worth defending … ” this particular ally or this particular plot of land.

    No one can really answer that kind of question. Was Iwo Jima really worth 7000 lives? Should we have sent a naval task force to take back one of the Aleutian Islands, at a potential cost of thousands more lives?

    If you break out every theater of the War on Terror separately, it is easy to claim that this particular motheaten Third World capital, or misbegotten patch of desert, isn’t worth risking American lives.
