The hilarity over putting bleach or lysol in bath water is misplace, though it appropriate for places with unsafe water, not for respiratory illnesses… when my daughter and I lived in west Africa, we were told from the beginning to wash veggies in bleach solution; after we started getting boils from our bath water (every bit as bad as it sounds), some Americans told us we should use bleach or lysol in our bathwater as well. It worked. But in DC or NYC? Seems a bit extreme.
