The story about the National Merit Finalists not being told of the results is weird to me, because when I went through that 45 years ago, the PSAT test results and all were reported to the test-takers, i.e. the students, and to all colleges that wanted them. As a finalist, I got recruitment papers from all sorts of colleges that I never wrote to and the only way they would have known about my results is by getting them from the PSAT people.
