The leftists are toppling statues, but you see Trump was dressed provocatively.
And Jonah, enough about Trump being a Law-and-Order president but not stopping the riots. He can’t direct the cops personally because federalism prevents it. He can send in the army. That, as is obvious, has some very serious consequences. You want to talk about that, talk about that, and look over the pros and cons and then recommend one way or another. Don’t just sit there and whine that Trump is trying to have it both ways when you’re trying to have it both ways too. You’re too smart and too principled for that.
While I’m ranting, one more point I’ve heard y’all make but not on this particular episode. The continued mystification that voters still trust Trump more on the economy than Biden, despite the fact that the economy is tanking. Maybe the Celebrated Man in the Streets remembers the past three years as well as the past three months, and notices that the economy tanks under anyone’s leadership when there’s a contagion going on. The H.L. Menken quote notwithstanding people have gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.
