Overdue for a trip back home to the bayou, Dave Carter takes us on an audio journey to the place that captured his heart long ago as we meet a Cajun Cook who is rising to national prominence for her ability and genuine good nature.  Pat Darbonne is well known  around southwest, Louisiana, but she captured the attention of The Today Show’s Hoda Kotb, who has invited Pat to bring her humor and culinary talent to New York City for a cooking segment on national television.  Oh yes, and Pat was a classmate of Dave’s back in Louisiana as the two graduated high school together, as Dave says, “sometime back in the last century.”  Listen in as Dave’s friend Joel Valdez joins a conversation that covers everything from the world of retail to the antics of Dave’s radio friends and the genuinely enjoyable culinary world of “Pat-N-Da Pot.”  As Dave said, “it was the sweet accents of home and it did my heart good to talk to her.”  We think you’ll agree.

People from Memphis shouldn’t ought to be raining on Detroit.

    Fun podcast.

I think people need a visual:

Delightful podcast Mr. Carter. Great to have Joel Valdez back and must check out Pat Darbonne. My husband does a wonderful gumbo if I do say so myself – and I do. My son is now following in his footsteps I’m happy to say and trying to do a gumbo every other Sunday. And, of course, Alphonse is right about LSU. Geaux Tigers!

Hey, @davecarter.  We met a few years ago at the Nashville meet-up.  I was the other one from Lake Charles, LA.  Patricia Darbonne is my first cousin.  I can’t believe what a small world it is.

The podcast was great.  I enjoyed listening to both of you.

How cool is that!!  She is featured in today’s Lake Charles American Press, by the way.  And she will be on The Today Show on December 12th.  Looking forward to it!!
