I get a flu shot every year, and almost always for my two boys as well. I just can’t afford to lose a whole week of my life to influenza. The last time it happened the boys were three and one. Because my husband drives a truck I was alone with them, and they were sick too. It was sheer misery, so, never again.
Great little podcast there. I always enjoy your style. Thanks for having Justin Roberts on. This is something every American should be interested in. As for the flu shots, I do not get them. Here is why. I am 68, and when the flu vaccine first became available, I got a shot. Two or three days later I became very ill with the flu. Not fun, but I was told by medical professionals that “you were already infected, you cannot become ill from the vaccine”. OK, so who am I to doubt? The next fall I also got a shot. This time I was deathly ill. Awful symptoms, and missed a week of work. That was the last one I got. It has been a log time, and I have not been ill anymore than most people, and less than average. They do not make sense for me.
