Well, bless your heart. It does not seem that you are doing enough homework, such as on the Saudi story. All of those princes who were arrested for corruption or killed? More than forty of them? They are part of the current ruling dynasty. Every king since 1953, and they are now up to six in a row, were the sons of the king who died in 1953, Abdul Aziz ibn Saud. Abdul Aziz had sixty sons, and the way it has worked until recently is the eldest living son, unless there was some good reason to pass over him, has become king. That was changed over the last half dozen years to decisions made by a council to appoint a crown prince and deputy crown prince. King Salman has managed to get his own son, rather than one of his elder and more senior nephews, appointed to be crown prince. Said crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman, seems to be consolidating power, and the anti-corruption campaign is working towards that end.
Always enjoy Teri’s perky demeanor
Almost makes her being a Hokie fan forgivable (Wahoowa)
You’ll like this — my HS senior has her heart set on UVA! We’re deep in the application process right now.
I appreciate the info! I’ve heard the “prisoners” are being kept at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh.
If you are going to cover news stories, it is incumbent on you to do the research. There were a host of problems with your report of the Texas shooting, all of which could have been avoided had you simply listened to several podcasts and other news sources over the last two days. I am always looking to newsy podcasts for new takes on issues and the most recent updates on events. I quit listening to yours after about 4 minutes as it had nothing new and a good deal that wasn’t actually true about events in Texas. From what Arahant said about your coverage of the Saudi situation, it sounds like you really didn’t give this podcast a lot of thought before starting out on it. Nothing Arahant mentioned in his comments was new or startling. It had all been discussed on various podcasts and news reports as early as yesterday morning. I think I will pass on your future podcasts.
Teri, I am going to enjoy listening to you. This is your inaugural Podcast, and a few mistakes are forgivable. Everyone needs to get his or her feet wet. Don’t be discouraged. I really do love your perkiness. We need that in this day of so much trouble.
Good Luck in the future with this.
I’m sorry if the first episode was less than perfect. I’ve been sick as a dog, but wanted to get started with the daily podcasting. Also, I recorded early in the morning, but the show didn’t post until late in the day so much of the info was already stale. I understand if the show’s not for you, but would love for you to give me another chance!
Bit of a rough start, but I was expecting that. I’ll get things fine-tuned quickly, I hope, but do appreciate the feedback!
Maybe I should rename this episode “Teri’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad First Episode”?
I love a gal with a good sense of humor! It does you well, and I think people will appreciate it.
They’re still princes, for the most part. Being sent to the Tower of London wasn’t necessarily a bad thing back in the day, either, if one were a nobleman.
I had wondered about this, which was why I did not mention the Texas info above. I figured that could be merely an issue of the moving hand of time.
Personally, I’m willing to give you a few chances. But we are a hard lot here.
I appreciate it! I don’t mind criticism at all — even from the hard lot at Ricochet. You all want Ricochet to offer quality products, and I agree with you 100%.
I think the criticism offered has very constructive. Like many others here, I like your voice, accent and perkiness … One thing I would suggest is not try to give “Hot Takes” on the news of the day… but rather let things sit for a bit, marinate in it a little, I think you could offer a unique take of deeper refection. “Hot Takes” are tiresome, meaningless and quickly forgotten.
This is so helpful! I’ve been thinking I should offer more “off the beaten track” stories rather than cover what everyone else is covering! And I have a doozy for tomorrow’s show.
Excellent.
I can vouch for that.
