Sadly, “the reasonable man vote” no longer wins primaries.
It seems that large fields in presidential primaries turn the process into an adverse selection. Where by many objective standards the worst possible candidate wins. (I know this doesn’t explain Hillary in 2016, but any democrat running in 2016 had a steep uphill climb to win) The democrats will settle on the worst possible candidate – Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden. Either one would be a disaster against Trump, and not excite their own ethnic bases enough.
Martin Luther King already is canceled among the left, they just haven’t noticed yet. That whole “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” means nothing when you start talking about privilege scores.
As far as the Left is concerned — nothing but muted praise for Dr. King over the last few years, when he’s even talked about at all. And you’re right: his exhortation that we prize character over melanin is no longer affirmed by the Left. In their minds such a notion is at best quaint and outdated, and at worst downright racist.
They really have gone crazy.
Great podcast. John P’s assessment of the new “Justice Democrats” was both spot-on and eye opening (not to mention scary) because it identifies a powerful anti-capitalist, pro-socialist, pro-tribalist ideology that is taking hold among the young.
