The podcast discusses a heartening display of defiance in France to protest the unjust verdict rendered in the anti-Semitic murder of Sarah Halimi, which further reinforces the case for Zionism. Also, the racial condescension on display among progressives who heap scorn on white vaccine holdouts but handle skeptical minorities with kid gloves. And finally, countering the narrative that Joe Biden is no culture warrior.

Recently, the FBI has said the attempted assassination of Congressmen in Alexandria Virginia that grievously wounded Steve Scalise was a case of suicide by cop, and not an attempted assassination.  I am reminded of this by your discussion of anti-semitic attacks that political leaders will not call anti-semitic.  In both cases the authorities will not state the obvious motives for the attacks.

I think Jpod is being unfair to people who dislike illegal immigration and dislike poor immigrants who are reliant on the state. The commentary crew is falling into the leftist trap of where any opposition to any immigration is anti-immigrant or anti-immigration. It’s impossible to have a sensible conversation when they utterly skew the other side of the argument.

It should be perfectly acceptable to be anti-immigration, period. Let alone anti-illegal immigration. We were able to be a *successful* Nation Of Immigrants™ because we would pause new immigration for decades after taking in huge numbers of immigrants for decades. This allows them to integrate and fully become American. Unending, limitless immigration justified because we a Nation Of Immigrants™ is both stupid and ignorant of actual American history.

Conservative elites like the panelists come off as ridiculous when they talk about immigration.

Aside from vague references to Hispanic immigrants being really, in their heart of hearts, conservatives — in spite of the fact that they always vote for the party of looting the native born — they ignore the political implications of mass immigration.

They treat immigrants as interchangeable, that there are no good immigrants or bad immigrants.  For example, is the Islamization of France really preferable to a declining, but French, population?  If Israel’s population were declining, would they recommend opening its borders to the Arab world?

At the end, just after his panelists have explained how the lower vaccination rates in Trump states are explained by the large minority populations there, John Podhoretz obliviously proposes having Donald Trump produce commercials promoting vaccination.

Our public conversations about immigration treat it as if it is all or nothing when there is actually a WIDE range of immigration policy between the all and the nothing. My argument is that by vetting who comes in and limiting the numbers the first people we protect are those who have just come in. Communities of recent immigrants are the first people who will suffer if we let in criminals or if we let in more people than our society’s infrastructure can handle healthily.

Just like we let in Italians fleeing the Mafia — and then let in the Mafia, too.  That’s pretty much the Biden policy on Central American immigrants today.

The actual argument today is not “all or nothing”, but between those who believe that immigration should be controlled at all, the Republican position, and that immigration should simply be open to all comers, the Democratic position.
